      Make your reservation by calling KBMR at 255-1234. There are two polka cruises scheduled this summer. The first one is Tuesday, July 16th with music by Marv & and the Moonlighters. The second one is Tuesday, August 20th with music by the Geiger Brothers (Emmanuel, Jim, and Don).

Be at the dock by 4:30. The price for the polka cruise is $30 per person and that includes the boat ride, music, and a meal.

These events are back by popular demand - so THANKS to our many listeners who have kept this summer time event going. KBMR listeners that have attended previously like to come again, and if you have never attended before, you will walk away with a smile!!!

The Happy Hour program is excited and proud to be part of the 125th Centennial Celebration June 20th through the 23rd.

      The Happy Hour will be live from the Ashley Legion Hall on Sunday, June 23rd from NOON till 7PM. Dancing music provided by the Leonard Wahl Band and the Dakota Rangers. Everything in Ashley is FREE for this celebration except for what you "eat or drink"!!!! Yes, admission to the Polkafest is FREE - just pay for your meal.

     Laughing, dancing, country and old-time music, watermelon, and summer time fun at Mandan Dykshoorn Park, this past Thursday night, August 4th, the featured Bismarck-Mandan popular band, Marv and the Moonlighters.

     Marv Zander from Mandan has six musical CD's available and he is one of the only musicians that I know of that will deliver music to your doorsteps  in the Mandan-Bismarck area. He even has DVD's available to watch, showing some comical antics along with favorite musical selections. Marv, always smiling and playing music by ear, and many songs that he has composed. Lots of musicians have played along with Marv including Mike Johnson, Randy Karr, Blaine Schell, Colleen Reinhardt, Perry Hanson, Bill Stein, and Clarence Sayler.

     The Lewis & Clark Riverboat hosted Marv & the Moonlighters many a summer night, sun or rain. Folks enjoyed dancing on the boat and people traveled many miles to enjoy this Bismarck tradition for many years. HOW we MISS, but REMEMBER those great memories!

     It was double up MARVS that starteed the live music in our KBMR Studios. DJ and friend, Marv Allan, had the idea to invite a live band into the studio and it was Marv Zander & his Moonlighters that began the tradition delighting our radio audience.

     If you missed Marv Zander this past Thursday, August 4th in Mandan's Dykshoorn Park, you can hear his music Sunday, August 28th at the AMVETS Club in Bismarck for the Great Plains Polkafest! Stay tuned also to hear Marv Zander hopefully once again in the KBMR Radio Studios for a Sunday Happy Hour program!

     The LITTLE DUTCH Band with a BIG North Dakota old-time musical talent spanning decades of musical memories and you can hear them live at the Mandan Band Shell at Dykshoorn Park Tuesday night, August 2nd, at 7:30. Enjoy goodies served by the Dakotah Lions - maybe a burger or brat? They serve up munchies every Tuesday night from 5:30 till 8:00.

     Versatility and variety are two key factors which make up the Little Dutch Band. Members of the band double on various instruments and more variety and color is obtained by the use of vocal solos, duets, and trios.

      This Bismarck-Mandan band includes brothers, Emanuel Geiger and Don Geiger. They grew up on a farm northwest of Mandan. Two other members are featured on their recordings that are played on KBMR's Happy Hour program on Sundays noon till 2:00 and that is Leonard Brilz and Dick Lorenz of Bismarck.

     Emanuel plays the cordovox and  plays his own compositions so make a request for the E.G.Polka!!! Don plays the clarinet, alto sax, and tenor sax. He also sings with the band. Leonard plays lead trumpet, valve trombone, and is a vocalist. "Old-Time" music is very popular in North Dakota and it is the MUSIC because "Old-Time" is happy music, fun-time music making your feet move and putting a smile on your face.
