The late Ed Babeck from Bismarck started the Great Plains Polkafest in Bismarck several years ago. Ed Babeck did so much for traditional old-time North Dakota music, and thanks to his son, Sheldon Babeck, in honor of his father, Ed Babeck, has continued the Great Plains Polkafest and in addition has set up a scholarship program in honor of his father with the help of the Musician's Association, Bis.-Mdn. Sheldon is proud to announce the recipients of those scholarships.
Nicholas N. from Ashley, North Dakota, plays the Bb clarinet and alto sax. The scholarship will go to the International Music Camp.
Samantha B. from Center, North Dakota plays three instruments and will be using the scholarship to major in music.
In addition, The Musicians Association gave away a number of scholarships from the Waddingham Fund.
Sheldon Babeck has scheduled the Great Plains Polkfest in Bismarck at the AmVets Club for the last weekend in August. Mark your calendars for great ENTERTAINMENT again this year and stay tuned to the Sunday KBMR Happy Hour noon till 2 for an upcoming schedule of performers.

Clarissa Lynn has strong roots in North Dakota coming from a small, family farm operation north of Stanton or just a little south of Pick City by the Lake Sakakawea area where she did more bale haulin' and cow milkin' than fishin'; however, Clarissa grew up in a musical family loving and learning to dance to old time and country music.
