BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) _ The Highway Patrol says overloaded trucks are on the increase in North Dakota, where the booming western oil patch is leading to a dramatic increase in traffic.
The patrol in the first four months of the year issued more than twice the overload fines it did during the same time period last year.
As of April 30, the patrol had assessed just under $1.1 million in overload fines, compared with about $432,000 in the first four months of 2011.
