BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) _ North Dakota's Transportation Department has launched a new bicycle safety program reminding motorists and bicyclists to share the road.
The agency is promoting a bicycle safety Web page and new radio safety announcements with the share-the-road theme.
The agency crashes involving bicycles and motor vehicles are mostly due to the disregard for basic traffic laws or inattentive behavior by both motorists and bicyclists.
Last year on North Dakota roadways, there were 80 crashes involving a motor vehicle and a bicycle. One cyclist was killed.
