MINOT, N.D. (AP) _ A Minot State University researcher is studying how married couples are dealing with stress following last summer's historic Souris River flooding.
Dr. Vicki Michels is an associate professor of addiction studies and psychology. She said that she's looking at the communication styles and coping strategies that couples have used to manage stress and get through the disaster.
Michels and a research partner hope to recruit 120 couples who had flooded homes. The study should be completed by next spring. Michels says the findings could help other couples deal with similar catastrophic events.
