LARIMORE, N.D. (AP) _ No train passengers or crew members were hurt when a car collided with Amtrak's Empire Builder at a crossing in northeastern North Dakota.
The crash happened about 6:30 a.m. Thursday. Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari says the train continued on its westward journey about three hours later.
Highway Patrol Sergeant Dolf Oldenburg says the car driver, 23-year-old Justin Larsen of Niagara, was taken to a Grand Forks hospital with neck and head injuries. The Grand Forks Herald reports that the injuries are not life-threatening.
The car hit the train four railcars back from the two engines. Oldenburg says the engines and one railcar became detached from the rest of the train.
Oldenburg says charges are pending against the car driver.
The crossing is marked with signs but not with flashing lights.
