BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) _ A memorial is planned for two Burleigh County deputies who died in the line of duty, 81 years apart.
George Piepkorn was stabbed to death in 1930 near Wing while responding to a domestic disturbance. Bryan Sleeper died of a heart attack last year while helping apprehend a suspect.
County commissioners voted to allow Sheriff Pat Heinert (HY'-nurt) to set up a memorial to the fallen deputies on the County Courthouse grounds. Heinert said that donations will fund the project.
Trees also will be planted in honor of Bismarck Police Officer Steve Kenner, who was killed last year responding to a domestic call.
