HANKINSON, N.D. (AP) _ A calf who was orphaned by the shooting of her mother is getting milk from two nanny goats and comfort from a llama.
Missy the calf is being raised at a ranch near McLeod, N.D., in North Dakota's southeastern corner.
Deb Sagvold called Missy's owner when she heard the calf's mother and 13 other cattle had been shot near Hankinson. Authorities are investigating the shootings.
Sagvold said she offered two female goats to nurse the calf. The goats didn't like it, but Missy took to the milk, and she feeds four times a day.
Sagvold's son has a pet male llama that watches over new calves on the ranch. The llama has adopted Missy and is teaching the calf to forage for food.
