MINOT, N.D. (AP) _ A North Dakota firefighter has pleaded guilty to attempting to burn down a house that was occupied at the time by four of his children.
Joseph Morin, of Belcourt, is charged in federal court with arson for setting fire to his former residence where his wife and eight of his children lived.
Authorities say Morin removed all the electrical meters from the house, threw burning paper into the dryer vent from the outside and stuffed a towel inside the vent.
The incident happened on Feb. 5. Morin was employed at the time with the Belcourt Rural Fire Department.
Morin faces a maximum penalty of life in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 10.
