WMA camping restrictions expanded in ND oil patch

Camping restrictions put in place earlier

this year on some wildlife management areas along Lake Sakakawea

have been expanded to southwestern North Dakota.

The state Game and Fish Department is prohibiting overnight

camping on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, except for holidays, on

wildlife management areas in Adams, Billings, Bowman, Dunn, Golden

Valley, Hettinger, Morton and Slope counties.

Game and Fish issued restrictions earlier this year on other

WMAs because a housing shorting in the oil patch had some people

taking shelter at the wildlife areas for extended periods of time.

That led to problems such as littering and raw sewage dumping, so

camping was restricted to certain days in some areas and prohibited

in others.
