FARGO, N.D. (AP) _ A group of Japanese millers are in Fargo to
visit with North Dakota State University officials about wheat
quality.
Japan is the largest market for U.S. hard red spring wheat,
annually purchasing nearly 55 million bushels. The country is
considering importing more durum in the future.
The contingent includes officials from three large flour mills
in Japan.
The group is meeting with specialists at NDSU to get an overview
of the quality of this year's crop and talking to breeders to about
future varieties.
