BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) _ Officials in North Dakota's capital city
plan to crack down on panhandlers.
Bismarck City Attorney Charlie Whitman says that the city has been getting more
complaints about aggressive panhandlers. He says a proposed
ordinance would keep panhandlers away from ATMs, traffic, downtown
areas and schools.
Fines for panhandling offenses would range from $50 to $500.
Mayor John Warford says the proposal is modeled after an
ordinance adopted by Fargo. A public hearing is set for Oct. 9.
