FARGO, N.D. (AP) _ Two former North Dakota State University
football players have pleaded guilty to petition fraud, while a
third former player has pleaded not guilty.
D.J. McNorton and Joshua Gatlin on Thursday received the same sentence
as 10 current NDSU players who pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor
election offense earlier this week. The sentences involve community
service but no jail time.
The attorney for Don Carter says Carter wants to deal with an
unrelated case in municipal court before moving forward in the
election fraud case.
Those charged in the fraud case were accused of faking
signatures on ballot measure petitions. The scandal kept proposed
measures to set up a state conservation fund and to legalize
medical marijuana off the November ballot.
