DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) _ The city of Dickinson is set to get a new
animal shelter _ but its price tag is unknown.
City commissioners rebuffed early this week the $1.2 million price for
the proposed facility presented by architect Jan Prchal of Hulsing
and Associates. So Prchal cut the proposed 6,000-square-foot
building in half and redesigned it. With the redesign, the shelter
will now have room for 14 dog kennels, down from the original 20.
Many other features were also eliminated and the location of the
shelter was changed.
The current shelter in Dickinson has room for five dogs.
The new price tag for the redesigned shelter was not immediately
available. The city plans to use a combination of public and
private funds to pay for it.
