WASHBURN, N.D. (AP) _ Construction is under way to nearly double the size of the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center in Washburn.
The expansion will add 9,000 square feet to the existing 11,000-square-foot facility.
A new events center is planned, as well as more space for displays and archives.
Spokeswoman Wendy Spencer says the cost of the project is pegged at more than $5 million. She says the state has contributed about $1.5 million, and the balance is being raised through donations.
Spencer says the work could be done sometime next year.
