NEW TOWN, N.D. (AP) _ Schools in New Town are in lockdown while law enforcement responds to a barricaded situation in a neighborhood near the high school.

FBI spokesman Kyle Loven says that a man wanted by law enforcement in Colorado on narcotics charges has barricaded himself in a residence in New Town.

Loven says he doesn't know if the man is armed. The man is wanted on several narcotics-related charges.

New Town Public Schools Superintendent Marc Bluestone says he decided to put the schools on lockdown after learning about the situation shortly after 5 a.m. Wednesday.

Students are allowed to pass between classes, but they're only allowed to leave the building if a parent picks them up.

New Town is located on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation.
