BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) _ The North Dakota Safety Council is offering a training course to help prepare people in the case of an armed intruder.

The so-called Active Shooter Survival Training will be held Jan. 17 at Bismarck State College.

Safety Council spokeswoman Serena Schmit says numerous people called the nonprofit organization in the wake of the school shooting in Newtown, Conn.

Schmit says the class costs $49.  She says early applicants include school administrators, law enforcement officials and hospital employees.
