DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) _ County commissioners in North Dakota's oil patch are asking for an expanded study on ways to tame dust on unpaved roads.
The original study was conducted in Dunn and McKenzie counties through the North Dakota Industrial Commission Oil and Gas Research Program. It looked at using various substances to control dust levels.
The dust kicked up by heavy equipment in oil country has caused numerous problems, including an increase in traffic accidents and maintenance costs.
Dunn County commissioners reportedly believe more research is needed. They've asked the principal investigator of the project to bring them a new proposal next month.
It's not clear whether McKenzie County will continue with the expanded study.
