GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) _ A Grand Forks educator accused of trying to lure a 12-year-old girl from his former school over the Internet has been fired.

Twenty-eight-year-old Jeremy Thompson had been working as a paraprofessional and coach in Grand Forks schools when he was charged in early January with luring minors by computer. Superintendent Larry Nybladh said that Thompson was fired after a school district investigation.

Thompson resigned from the Adams-Edmore school in December 2010, citing personal reasons. The superintendent there at the time has said he asked Thompson to resign after Thompson allegedly was caught passing inappropriate notes to a student.

Thompson is scheduled to enter pleas next month. His attorney declined comment to The Associated Press on Thursday, saying he had only recently been assigned the case.
