BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) _ State regulators say North Dakota oil drillers produced a record 243 million barrels of crude in 2012, up more than 90 million more barrels than the previous record set a year earlier.
State records show North Dakota also produced a record 258 billion cubic feet of natural gas in 2012, up from 155 billion cubic feet the year before.
The state has set oil production records each year since 2004, when production was pegged at 31 million barrels.
North Dakota produced an average of 768,850 barrels of oil daily in December. The monthly total of 23.8 million barrels was a record.
December production figures were the latest available, because oil production numbers typically lag at least two months.
