DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) _ Family members of a man killed in a hit-and-run incident in Dickinson say the bond amount set for the suspect in the case is too low.

Judge Zane Anderson set bond at $5,000 cash for 47-year-old Timothy Menges, who is charged with felony negligent homicide in the Nov. 21 death of 47-year-old Tracy Freer in a motel parking lot.

Police say Menges is from Missouri. He has lived in the Dickinson area the past 2 { years and has a criminal record involving a weapons charge and traffic offenses.

Prosecutor Rhonda Ehlis says $5,000 bond is enough to ensure Menges' appearance in court, beginning with his preliminary hearing on April 22.

Menges has requested a public defender.
