FARGO, N.D. (AP) _ A 29-year-old man accused of punching a grandfather who asked him to lower his voice in a restaurant because he was swearing has been sentenced to a year in prison.
Brenden Marjama entered an Alford plea, not admitting guilt but acknowledging enough evidence to convict him.
Marjama apologized in court Monday, saying his girlfriend had cheated on him that September day and he was so drunk he didn't remember much of what happened at the Ground Round restaurant.
Police reports say that after the first incident, Marjama and a companion ran across the street to Hooters and attacked another man after demanding his wallet. Prosecutors dropped a robbery charge.
Marjama's year-long sentence was longer than recommended by probation officers.
