North Dakotans are being encouraged to consider adopting a shelter or rescue dog instead of shopping at stores or online for a new furry member of the family. Kaye John with Prairie Paws Rescue of Jamestown says these rescued animals are most often wonderful pets, but left homeless because of various circumstances.
||"Families move, families dislocated, families with financial problems. Those animals are in those pounds due to no fault of their own, and we always say our motto is ‘the best thing in a rescued pet’s life is a second chance” and we’re firm believers of that."
According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, around three to four million dogs and cats are euthanized in the U-S each year.
