GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) _ A University of North Dakota aviation student and a flight instructor are slated to compete in a transcontinental air race for female pilots.
Student Amy Warbalow and instructor Katrina Kugler were slated to leave Wednesday from the Grand Forks airport. The Air Race Classic begins next week in Pasco, Wash. Aviation teams are given four days to fly the 2,400 miles to Fayetteville, Ark. The race is run only during daylight hours.
UND says it's the first time the school has fielded a team for the event, which traces its roots to 1929.
